Our History

Bateaux FC is a soccer club based in Eau Claire, WI, upon the confluence of the Chippewa River and the Eau Claire River. Like the merging of the rivers that have come to define our city, we're a coming together of indefinite identities. We're a diverse group of players who come from near and far, and we could not be prouder to represent this city.

Bateaux FC is a current and founding member of the Wisconsin Primary Amateur Soccer League (WPASL), founded in 2019. WPASL is a USASA and WSL sanctioned amateur soccer league operating out of Western Wisconsin.

We formed in April 2019 as Eau Claire Heat FC, but the foundations of our club run much deeper. The groundwork had been laid through city's recreational leagues, open play pickup sessions, and the former Eau Claire (now La Crosse-based) Aris SC. In January 2020, we rebranded to become Bateaux FC. Later that year, we won our fist WPASL Primary Cup.

The name "Bateaux" (bah-toe) is a French word meaning "boats." In Eau Claire's origins, during the height of the timber industry in the Chippewa Valley, bateaux were used to transport lumber downstream to the sawmills that dotted the riverbanks. Like those unmanned vessels, our aim is to transport soccer from our community to the rest of Eau Claire.

The club is run by board of volunteers.
